Automatic Research was founded 2015 as a start-up of the Helmholtz Institute Erlangen Nuremberg (hi-ern.de) and the Institute of Materials for Electronics and Energy Technology (iMEET) chair of the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg. The company’s founders are Felix Hoga, Dr. Tobias Stubhan and Dr. Peter Kubis. All members have worked in printed electronics for many years. The company has grown to 10 employees that provide dedicated research tools for printed electronics. Software and electronics development has grown as a significant field of activity in the past years, providing solutions for mid and large sized companies in the electronic and renewable energies sector.
Who we are
Felix Hoga
Felix is the managing director and lead engineer of the company. He has developed numerous scientific measurement and laboratory solutions for printed electronics in the past years. In recent years, he has applied his profound knowledge and skillset in software and electronics development to various other fields as well, creating unique solutions for a range of different applications beyond printed electronics as well.
Dr. Tobias Stubhan

Tobias Stubhan earned his PhD in Material Science from the Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg after completing his education in Karlsruhe, Stockholm, Erlangen-Nuremberg and Tucson (USA). He co-authored more than 52 scientific publications and multiple (pending) patents. He is responsible for the sales and marketing of Automatic Research.
Dr. Peter Kubis
Optics and Consumables, Co-Founder
Peter Kubis earned his PhD in Material Science from the Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg after completing his education in Bratislava (SVK) and Erlangen. Peter is responsible for optics and consumables at Automatic Research. His expertise is laser patterning of substrates for printed electronics, in which he as more than 10 years experience. He co-authored more than 30 scientific publications.
